Officially the sunniest spot in Britain as verified by the Met Office, Bognor Regis has all the ingredients for a funpacked and budget family seaside holiday. The warm climate combined with a Blue Flag Award winning beach fronted by children's rides and ice cream sellers and Butlins Bognor open for Day visits and crammed with family attractions and amusements all go to make Bognor a top seaside resort for families. Bognor's friendly pier offers more amusements and rides. Nightlife bustles here with a choice of family restaurants, pubs and bars and also a good sprinkling of nightclubs.

The real character and friendly welcome to all in Bognor is evident in events like the International Bognor Birdman annually in early July. Human Powered flying machines compete and see who can fly the furthest jumping off the seaward end of Bognor Pier to raise money for charity, with everyone getting involved and dressing up bird style. Competitors come from far and wide and the event has made Bognor and the Pier famous! The 2.5 mile long promenade and beach are flat level with easy access, another bonus for families and visitors with mobility difficulties. Bognor Regis Blue Flag Beach, Pier, Promenade & Family Holidays

A European Blug Flag and Seaside Award winner, Bognor Regis Beach is tops for families. Facilities are extensive along the seafront including a Kids Care scheme with colour coded areas and wristbands, children's rides along the seafront, gardens and parks, crazy golf, beachfront family restaurants and amusement arcades and local parks and gardens with miniature trains. Bognor Beach has flat level access from the promenade making it accessible for both families with young children and for visitors with mobility difficulties.

Bognor's bustling seafront promenade stretches for 2.5 miles all the way from Felpham east to Alwick west. Family attractions along the seafront here at Bognor include the pier with amusements and rides for younger children. Perfect for strolling, the Promenade is stunning with feature historic bandstand and flowers in bloom. Live music is often on the bandstand and the mini road train - the Bognor Chugger runs the full length of the beachfront promenade. Grade II listed Bognor Pier is actually the oldest pier in Britain dating originally from 1865. The seaward end and pavilion unfortunately were lost in the mid-1960s and in 2008 the famous Bognor Birdman competition had to be moved to Worthing. The promenade end however houses a choice of seaside amusements and by night Bognor's popular Club Vision is in full swing.

Bognor has its fair share of seafront historic architecture, notably opposite the Pier find Regency architecture around the Steyne. West of the Pier along the Aldwick beachfront sits Bognor Yacht Club and beyond Marine Park Gardens. The gardens are stunning at Marine Park and you'll find a pitch & putt course, a cafe and pleanty of relaxing seating and picnic space here.

Bognor Seafront and Promenade sees a choice of events and activities during Bognor festivals such as the Sands of Time Festival annually at the end of May including music on the bandstand, Punch & Judy shows and donkey rides. Sunday afternoon concerts are on the bandstand usually during August and Bognor switches on its Summer Season Illuminations along the seafront around mid April during the Big Switch-on Weekend. Christmas Illuminations are switched on at the end of November.

Butlins Bognor Day Visitors

Butlins has a long history in Bognor and many will have happy memories of time spent at Butlins Bognor from as early as 1960 when Billy Butlin first set up shop here. With centrepiece the Skyline Pavilion housing year round undercover attractions and the new de-luxe Shoreline Hotel, Butlins Bognor has changed and evolved with the times and is one of the South Coast's top family attractions today.

Open to Day Visitors, although more than a day is needed here to pack in all attractions, a day entrance ticket gets you unlimited rides at the funfair. Family attractions all on one mammoth entertainment complex don't come much better than Butlins Bognor with on-site attractions including indoor Splash Waterworld with water blaster and wave machine, Bob the Builders Yard - great for the tots, adventure golf, shows, bars, restaurants and events in the Skyline Pavilion, go-karting, ten-pin bowling, a cinema, The Groove Room where kids can make their own CD or DVD recording, Bungee Trampolines and a huge choice of sports including volleyball, archery, netball, football and basketball.

Entertainment highlights feature Superslam Wrestling and circus and acrobatic entertainment plus a number of specialist activities are run for children of all ages from tots to teens including Pop Academy, Pirate treasure hunts and Family Sports day. Favourite Cartoon Network characters are on hand with dancing lessons, fix it sessions with Bob the Builder and more fun with Pingu, Fireman Sam and Barney the dinosaur. Pubs, restaurants, takeaways and cafes are all within the complex as are a selection of shops selling all essentials plus inflatables and gifts. Find the Day visitors entrance just off the Bognor Seafront at the eastern end towards Felpham off the Gloucester Road. A Day Visitors car park is adjacent, but often fills up during the summer season. Further parking is available around Bognor Town Centre, the Seafront and Hotham Park. (all pay & display). Butlins is a mere 15 minutes walk from Bognor Regis Station.
